The Holstein Cattle Breeders Association of the Czech Republic acknowledges its long-term collaboration with the Veterinary Research Institute (25. 04. 2016)

On the occasion of the celebration of the Holstein Cattle Breeders Association´s foundation, a commemorative plaque was presented by its management to our Institute in recognition of the long-term collaboration and professional assistance given to cattle breeders of the Czech Republic.

The collaborative efforts include, in particular, the national infectious bovine rhinotracheitis control programme, eradication of bovine viral diarrhoea and control of paratuberculosis in cattle, but also the control of reproductive and metabolic disorders in periparturient cows, as well as dealing with disorders of the locomotor system and mastitis, the quality of produced milk, diseases of calves and young cattle, and the latest collaboration in processing data on disease prevalence and resistance to antimicrobials.

The management of the above mentioned Association together with the Joint Health Commission of the Cattle Breeders Associations in the Czech Republic expressed appreciation for the long-term successful scientific oversight of dairy and beef herds throughout the Czech Republic by MVDr. Kamil Kovařčík, Ph.D.

The above mentioned collaboration was supported by the National Agency for Agricultural Research of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The 9th European Symposium of Porcine Health Management will be held in the spring of 2017 in Prague.

The Czech Republic's candidacy for hosting this event has been accepted by the committees of the following associations at their joint meeting:

Local co-organizer of the whole event is the Czech Pig Veterinary Society (CPVS).

The Veterinary Research Institute is one of the guarantors of the scientific programme at the symposium. The symposium will be held under the aegis of the Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, Ing. Marian Jurečka, the Mayor of the capital city of Prague, Mgr. Adriana Krnáčová, MBA and the President of the Prague Convention Bureau, Mr. Sanjiv Suri.
