INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS SUPPLEMENTED
Reviews are forwarded to the corresponding
author by e-mail immediately. The subject is “VET MED 200D-DDD review”.
If a review is not delivered to the
corresponding author within four months after registration, and a revision of
the manuscript was not requested, or the PDF file for proof reading was not
received, the review is not yet available. The Editor continues the reviewing
procedure, addressing other referees, but the authors are free to cancel this
procedure if they want to submit the manuscript to another journal for
publication. In such cases, self assessment of the manuscript and its revision
are strongly recommended. Revised and updated manuscripts can be resubmitted to
the journal VETERINARNI MEDICINA, where reviewing will be restarted with the
revised manuscript, under the same registration number. Use “VET MED 200D-DDD
resubmission” as a subject. Receipt of the resubmitted manuscript will be
acknowledged.
Manuscripts accepted for publication are
announced by sending of the PDF file to the corresponding author for
proof-reading. The subject is “VET MED 200D-DDD PROOF”.
From the above information, the peer reviewing
procedure is quite evident. Thus questions regarding the availability of
reviews will not be answered, and only automatic replies are returned.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The authors should submit new or revised
manuscripts by e-mail to the Editor (either vetmed@vri.cz
or hruska@vri.cz or radosova@uzpi.cz ). Do not send the
manuscript to more than one address. Use “VET MED submission” for new
manuscripts or “VET MED 200D-DDD revised) for a revised manuscript as a subject
line. Receipt of this e-mail will be acknowledged within two weeks and a
registration confirmed by e-mail with the subject “VET MED 200D-DDD”
(registration number).
The manuscript should be submitted in
non-formatted WORD file (paginated and line-numbered) attached to e-mail and
named only by the first authors’ name (e.g. Johnson.doc). The title of the
paper should not be capitalized. Names of authors should include initials and
family name in capitals (given names should not be in full). List of tables,
figures and photos should be included in the text on a separate page, with full
titles and explanations. Tables should be in WORD (each table on a separate
page in one file, named by Johnson Table #.doc). Graphs should be in EXCEL
(each figure in a separate file named by Johnson Fig #.xls). Do not send two or more
graphs in one file on separate lists. Photos should be attached as separate JPG
files, with the highest resolution, saved as “Johnson Photo #.jpg”. Long names of files and
non-English characters must not be used.
Authors should request a registration number if
the confirmation is not received by e-mail within two weeks after a submission
of the manuscript. Again, use “VET MED submission” as a subject, but do not
attach the manuscript, unless it is required by the Editor. The receipt of this
e-mail will be acknowledged and a registration re-confirmed.
Cancelling the review procedure should be
announced by the authors via e-mail to the Editor with the subjectline “VET MED
200D-DDD TO BE DELETED”. Receipt of this e-mail will be acknowledged.
If the attempts of the Editor to receive the
review are unsuccessful for six months, the manuscript will be deleted. The
corresponding author is informed by an e-mail with a subject “VET MED 200D-DDD
DELETED”.
Use the subjectline “VET MED 200D-DDD PROOF” if
you are sending the PDF of a corrected file by e-mail.
FREQUENT
ERRORS IN E-MAIL CORRESPONDENCE:
National
(non-English) characters in the sender e-mail address.
No subject
or subjectline other than:
“VET MED
submission”
“VET MED 200D-DDD
revised)
“VET MED 200D-DDD
PROOF”
“VET MED
200D-DDD TO BE DELETED”
Empty e-mail body with attached files only.
Please include a brief note to indicate the use of the attachments. Do not put
this information in a separate attached file.
DELAY IN
PUBLICATION USUALLY HAS ONE OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
Authors do
not follow instructions carefully.
The published data is not presented in the
introduction, or the introduction is not based on the data published in available
peer-reviewed journals. Avoid abstracts, theses, non-scientific, local, and
other non-available journals, if possible. Do not cite web pages, if
information is not available in a published journal.
The
manuscript does not offer a new piece of knowledge.
The methods
used are not appropriate.
The results
are not interpreted correctly.
The
manuscript is not written in correct English, or the wording is difficult to
understand.
REMEMBER:
The reviewers are not obliged to assess the
manuscript and/or explain the reasons of their recommendation to reject the
publication. Nevertheless, a number of referees give the chance to the authors
to improve their publication skills. Their recommendations and requirements
should be followed and every issue, accepted or not, should be explained by the
authors in English in a WORD file named by „200D-DD Johnson TO REV #.doc" (separately to each review).
