Assoc. Prof. Faldyna Begins his Second Term in Office

On 2 November 2025, assoc. prof. MVDr. Martin Faldyna, Ph.D. commenced his second five-year term as Director of the Veterinary Research Institute. He was appointed to this position on 21 October by the Minister of Agriculture, Marek Výborný. Assoc. Prof. Faldyna conveyed his appreciation to all staff for their cooperation to date and expressed his confidence that together they will continue to successfully pursue the Institute’s established direction—maintaining its scientific standards while also focusing on the practical application of research results.

A graduate of the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno, where he also defended his doctoral thesis, assoc. prof. Faldyna completed his habilitation at Mendel University in Brno in the field of Animal Morphology, Physiology, and Genetics. He is the author or co-author of more than 190 publications in peer-reviewed journals with an impact factor and with an h-index of 30; over 60 articles aimed at a professional audience; several teaching texts; and numerous applied research outcomes. Upon his appointment, assoc. prof. Faldyna stated, “I appreciate the opportunity to continue the work already in progress. I believe that applied agricultural research is well justified, and veterinary medicine is an integral part of it.”
