VRI launches a programme to develop a sustainable environment for veterinary research

The Veterinary Research Institute (VRI) is launching a strategic project focused on strengthening science and research management, developing human resources, and enhancing competitiveness in the field of R&D. The programme addresses the need to create a modern, open, and sustainable environment for scientific work that supports international collaboration, technology transfer, and science popularisation.

The project focuses on seven key areas that will bring significant changes to the management and operations of the Institute. These include the modernisation of strategic management and human resource development through education, mentoring, and support for career growth. Another area is research management and project management, which will increase efficiency and the number of projects obtained. International collaboration, expanded mobility, and the introduction of English as a second working language also play a significant role. The project also focuses on technology transfer and intellectual property protection, which will support collaboration with the industry and the growth of contract research. An important component is the implementation of open science and data management according to the FAIR principles, which will lead to greater transparency and higher quality of publications. Equally important is science popularisation and communication with the public, which will increase the visibility of research findings. The final area is ensuring Institute´s resilience against illegitimate interference, in order to create a safe environment for work and collaboration.

“The project will make a significant contribution to improving the conditions for scientific work and will strengthen the overall development of our Institute. We aim to create an environment that supports the professional growth of all staff, enhances international collaboration, and facilitates the transfer of research results into practice,” said Assoc. Prof. MVDr. Martin Faldyna, Ph.D., Director of the Veterinary Research Institute.

With this step, VRI aims to strengthen its position among the leading European research institutions and ensure the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of Czech veterinary research.
