CAAS Honours Outstanding Agricultural Researchers, Including Doc. MVDr. Soňa Šlosárková, Ph.D., of the VRI

On Tuesday, 3 March 2026, the plenary session of the members of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) took place in the Assembly Hall of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The event brought together leading figures from agricultural research, education and practice, providing an opportunity to review the past period and honour distinguished personalities in the field.

The opening speech was delivered by the Rector of the host university, Prof. PhDr. Michal Lošťák, Ph.D. He was followed by the Chairman of the CAAS Board, Prof. Ing. Vilém Podrázský, CSc., who presented an overview of the activities of the Board and the specialised scientific departments of the Academy. Prof. Ing. Radim Vácha, Ph.D., Chairman of the CAAS Publishing Board, presented an overview of the Academy’s publishing activities and the development of bibliometric indicators of its scientific journals.

Doc. Ing. Hana Urbancová, Ph.D., DBA, Director of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences, highlighted the Academy’s long-standing commitment to bridging science and practice, and to bringing the results of agricultural research closer to the general public. Following her contribution, the guests gave their presentations. Mgr. Jan Radoš, Head of Precision Agriculture, Research and Education Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, and Doc. Ing. Jaromír Wasserbauer, Ph.D., Section Director of the Technical Environmental Protection at the Ministry of the Environment, highlighted the current challenges facing agriculture and environmental policy today. The significance of research in the agricultural sector was further highlighted by Prof. Ing. Jozef Golian, President of Slovak Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Ing. Veronika Hlaváčková, Ph.D., Director of the Institute for Agricultural Education (Institut vzdělávání v zemědělství), Prague, Agricultural Association of the Czech Republic; and Bc. Jiří Michalisko, Chairman of the Czech-Moravian Union of Agricultural Entrepreneurs.

The session featured the traditional presentation of awards to distinguished personalities who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of agricultural research.

Among the awardees was Doc. MVDr. Soňa Šlosárková, Ph.D., from the Veterinary Research Institute, who received the BRONZE MEDAL on the recommendation of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the CAAS in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the development of science and research in agriculture.
