VRI Participated in the 9th Open House Brno Festival

On Saturday, 16 May 2026, the Veterinary Research Institute once again took part in the Open House Brno festival. The ninth edition of the event offered visitors the opportunity to explore architecturally significant and otherwise inaccessible buildings across the city, including the VRI premises in the Medlánky district of Brno.

Guided tours were led by the VRI’s Director, Doc. MVDr. Martin Faldyna, Ph.D., who presented both the history of the Institute and its current scientific focus to visitors. The programme included a tour of the library with its characteristic spiral staircase, a descent into the civil defence shelter located in the building’s basement, as well as an ascent to the upper floors of the buildings, offering views of Medlánky, the Technology Park, and the broader Brno area.

During the tour, visitors were given the opportunity to gain insight into the long-standing tradition of veterinary research at VRI, as well as into ongoing projects focused on animal health, diagnostics, and the development of new methods for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.
