Veterinary Science on TV Zemědělec: An Interview with Martin Faldyna and Pavel Suchý

Veterinary research, collaboration between scientific institutions, and current challenges facing the field were among the topics discussed in an interview on TV Zemědělec. The guests invited to take part in the interview were doc. MVDr. Martin Faldyna, Ph.D., Chairperson of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Director of VRI, and doc. MVDr. Pavel Suchý, Ph.D., Deputy Chairperson of the Department, from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Masaryk University.

The interview offers an insight into the activities of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of CAAS and its links with research institutions and universities. Both guests explain the importance of research for the development of veterinary medicine and introduce scientific events supported by the Academy. In 2026, the Academy was involved in organising the Central European Veterinary Congress, held under the subtitle Smart Farming from a Veterinarian´s Perspective, and in the continuation of the series of conferences for young pharmacologists and toxicologists, known as Květinův den (Květina’s Day).

Attention was also given to the publication of research results, particularly in the scientific journal Veterinární medicína. Pavel Suchý is closely involved in its publication as a Co-Editor and a member of the CAAS Editorial Board. The journal, which has been re-indexed in PubMed, has seen a significant increase in its impact factor, partly due to a substantial reduction in the time required for peer review.

Introducing veterinary science to a wider audience reflects the aim of the cooperation between CAAS and the publishing house Profi Press: to make scientific knowledge accessible to both professionals and the general public, support its application in agricultural practice, and strengthen communication between researchers and those who use the results of their work.
