Discover the ´Villains of the Microworld´ in an exhibition showing electron microscope images at the VRI Small Gallery

VRI Small Gallery, Hudcova 296/70, Brno

March 18, 2024, from 2:00p.m. and March 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24, 2024.

Explore the microscopic realm of both villains and heroes residing inside us, found in both human and animal carriers. What more effective method exists for acquiring knowledge of the Microworld than through the use of electron microscope images? Here, you will see not only the real villains - parasites, pathogens, and even microplastic particles in tissues, but also microorganisms and cells that could be considered either beneficial or detrimental depending on the situation. You may be amazed or dismayed at how beautiful these structures can appear under a microscope. For example, the delightful spirals of E. coli bacteria, the rod-shaped Clostridium, or the spherical-shaped Staphylococcus, microorganisms in the gut (microbiome) acting as our second brain, and tapeworms. Other potential villains lurking for us are microplastics, whose presence the authors managed to detect in the gut, gills, and embryos of fish.

A private viewing with the authors will take place on March 20, 2024, at 2:00p.m. in the VRI Small Gallery, Hudcova 70, 621 00, Brno-Medlánky.
