On 11 February, we celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly with the aim of promoting equal opportunities within the scientific community and highlighting the importance of women in research and innovation.
At the Veterinary Research Institute, we are aware that science is not just about projects and publications — but above all about the people who create it. And in our case, it is to a great extent shaped by women — scientists, technicians, laboratory staff, administrative employees, and colleagues from operational support. Through their consistent daily work, they make a significant contribution to the transfer of research results from the laboratory into practice
To mark the occasion, we came together for a symbolic gathering, during which the VRI Director expressed his gratitude to all female employees for their work and dedication, presenting each with a small token of appreciation. The group photograph is a reminder that behind every project, analysis, or publication are real people — and very often, women.
The Veterinary Research Institute has long been committed to promoting equal working conditions and supporting career development at every stage of a professional journey. This commitment is reflected in our systematic human resources practices, guided by the HR Award principles, and includes support for achieving a healthy balance between professional and personal life.
We thank all our female colleagues for their expertise, precision, patience, and the energy they bring to their work and to the institute every day. Without them, the Veterinary Research Institute would not be what it is today.
