After over than four years of research, the European project NeoGiANT has shown that natural substances derived from wine industry by-products can help reduce the use of antibiotics in animal production. An international consortium of scientists from eight European countries and Argentina developed novel solutions based on bioactive compounds from grape marc, which may find applications, for example, in the treatment of bovine mastitis, intestinal diseases in piglets, or in aquaculture. The results of the project confirm the potential of sustainable alternatives to antibiotics in modern agriculture.
