VRI Awarded AGRISHOW 2026 Gold Medal for Innovative QuoCNA Probiotics for Poultry

Brno, 2026 – The Veterinary Research Institute received the prestigious AGRISHOW 2026 Gold Medal for the product QuoCNA – a new generation of probiotics for poultry. This innovative product was one of seven award-winning projects in this year’s competition for the best submissions in this category.

The QuoCNA product represents a unique approach to supporting poultry health. It is based on knowledge of the natural transfer of gut microbiota between the hen and her chicks. Key bacteria were isolated in pure culture and subsequently used to develop a completely new type of probiotic product. It is given to chicks on the first day of life, thereby mimicking the natural mechanism of gut microbiota colonisation.

This approach enhances chicks’ resistance to infections, particularly Salmonella and other gastrointestinal pathogens. As a result, it improves animal health and welfare while enabling poultry fattening without the use of antibiotics. This makes a significant contribution to reducing the risk of antimicrobial resistance, which is a key concern in both modern veterinary medicine and public health.

The evaluation committee also acknowledged the scientific value of the product, particularly emphasizing its innovative concept based on the natural transfer of gut microbiota and the unique composition of the probiotic product derived from pure cultures of key bacteria.

The award was presented to Prof. RNDr. Ivan Rychlík, Ph.D., whose research team was involved in the development of this product.

The product is exhibited in Pavilion P, booth 015.

The award further confirms the long-standing focus of the Veterinary Research Institute Brno on applied research with direct practical impact, as well as its capacity to deliver innovative solutions for modern agriculture and veterinary medicine.

Congratulations!
