The Veterinary Research Institute hosted the general assembly meeting of the CREA Hydro & Energy, z. s. cluster on 17 March, 2026. The cluster brings together companies, research institutions, and universities active in technologies for water works, water and waste management, and renewable energy sources.
The VRI Director, Doc. Faldyna, welcomed the participants of the meeting and introduced the Institute’s areas of expertise. In his presentation, he focused in particular on projects assessing the impacts of surface and groundwater pollution, including contamination by pharmaceuticals and microplastics.
Among the ongoing projects is, for example, “A Toxicological Methodology for the Comprehensive Assessment of Groundwater Contamination by Organic Pollutants”. Its aim is to develop a methodology based on selected in vitro toxicological approaches that will enable a comprehensive evaluation of groundwater burdened with persistent organic pollutants.
The meeting also included discussions on the possibility of closer coopera tion between the VRI and the cluster members, both in the preparation of joint projects and in connection with the Institute’s potential membership in the cluster.
