World Bee Day on 20 May

Bees are not only an integral part of our nature and agriculture, but for many people, beekeeping is a rewarding lifelong hobby. Like any farm animal, the honey bee is susceptible to a wide range of diseases and is influenced by various components of civilisation. Consequently, honey bees are the subject of intense research worldwide. At the Veterinary Research Institute, we focus on bee viruses, particularly on developing modern diagnostic methods and procedures aimed at reducing the adverse effects of viruses on bee colonies.
